Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET) is the first step in the process of admission to the TWO YEAR FULL TIME Postgraduate Degree Programmes in Management offered by the IITs. Currently IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee offer Programmes in Management.

JMET is only a qualifying examination. Candidates have to apply separately to the Institutes of their choice. They are also advised to look up the admission details provided in the respective websites of the participating Institutes. There is no limit to the number of programmes a candidate can apply to, so long as he or she meets the eligibility criteria.

The results of JMET provide a basis to each participating Institute to shortlist potential candidates for conducting its own selection processes like, Group Discussion/Interview etc. However, calling the candidates for such later process of selection is the prerogative of the admitting Institute. Candidates should note that the final selection would depend on their performance in each of the components of the selection process.

JMET qualified candidates may contact the management departments/schools of the concerned institutes for additional information. It may be noted that the GATE/JMET offices will not respond to queries on the admission procedure.

About the Examination
Candidates will be required to appear in a single paper of three hours duration. The examination will be held from 10:00 hrs to 13:00 hrs on Sunday, December 12, 2010. The question paper will be in english only.

Before applying for JMET 2011, candidates must assure themselves that they satisfy the eligibility criteria to seek admission to the specific programme they are interested in. The eligiblity criteria for admission to the management schools vary from one admitting institute to another. For more details about the programmes, the candidates are required to contact the Institutes to which they are interested in seeking admission.

Apply ONLINE
JMET 2011 Application Form has to be submitted ONLINE only. The application fee is Rs.350/- for SC/ST/PD candidates and Rs. 750/- for all other candidates. ONLINE submission of application can be done by accessing the JMET 2011 website of any of the IITs or IISc by following the steps given below:

1. Before you start applying online, make sure that you have digital images of your photo and signature in .jpg format that are less than 150 Kb in size. During the application process, you need to upload both the photo and the signature through the JMET 2011 website. The size of the photo and signature should be as specified below:

Photo image size = width x height = 4 cm x 5 cm (resolution = 200 dpi)
Signature image size = width x height = 5 cm x 1 cm (resolution = 200 dpi)

If the face is difficult to identify in your photo, the application form will be rejected.

2. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PD categories should have a PDF file of their respective category certificate which needs to be uploaded during the ONLINE application process. Applicants belonging to OBC(non-creamy layer) do not have to upload the category certificate since their application fee is same as the general category students.

3. Access the JMET 2011 website and click ONLINE application submission link to register as a user. If already registered, then sign-in at the website and complete the ONLINE application form.

4. After filling up the ONLINE application form including the uploading of your photo, signature and category certificate (if applicatble), you may proceed to make the fee payment. The application fee is Rs.350/- for SC/ST/PD candidates and Rs. 750/- for all other candidates. The application fee is non-refundable.

5. There are two modes of fee payment. You may choose any of the following options:
* Core Banking
* Credit / Debit Cards

In case the applicant registers successfully but fails to pay the required fee on or before the last date for ONLINE application submission, his/her application will stand cancelled without any further intimation.

6. If you have submitted the ONLINE application successfully, a PDF file of your application will be generated which you may keep for your record. In the generated PDF file, if your photo and signature are clear and proper, and your category cerficate is uploaded, then you DO NOT need to send anything by post.

7. If the uploaded photo, signature and category certificate (where applicable) are not clear and improper, please follow the instructions given at:

NOTE:

1. Incomplete Application Forms will be rejected without further information to the candidate.
2. GATE Office, IIT Delhi will post the JMET 2011 Admit Card by speed post to the address given in the application form by 12th November, 2010
3. Check your application status at the “app_status” tab of the web site.
4. If you do not receive your admit card by 1st December, 2010, you should contact the GATE Office, IIT Delhi or visit the JMET 2011 website to know the Registration Number and the address of the test centre.
5. You are advised to apply ONLINE well in advance of the last date for submission (08 Oct. 2010) to avoid any problems due to reduced access speeds because of bandwidth overloads especially close to the submission date.

Public sector bank employees will go on a nation-wide strike on September 7 to protest the issue of new bank licences to private sector banks.

"Around 10 lakh bank employee from 27 public sector banks, 18 foreign banks, 26 private, 82 regional rural banks and 1,721 co-operative banks would be participating in this strike," All India Bank Employees Association’s (AIBEA) General Secretary Vishwas Utagi said.

The bankers are also demanding an increase in the number of public sector branches through expansion from the existing 40,000 to 1 lakh.

Besides state-owned bankers, nearly 44 crore employees, including those from organised and unorganised sectors and industries would be participating in the strike, he said.

AIBEA and Maharashtra State Bank Employees Federation (MSBEF) have taken an initiative in the strike and other trade unions affiliated with INTUC, AITUC, CITU, HMS, HMKP and various other unions operating in financial sector, government sector, port trust and transport sector, would be participating in the strike, Utagi said.

"When the RBI is talking about financial inclusion, there is a need to increase the number of branches of public sector banks. We want the number to go up from 40,000 to 1 lakh, if the financial model has to become a success," he added.

The bankmen would also be protesting against the RBI’s proposal of issuing additional banking licences to private sector banks. "Employment, which a major concern for the employees, is also on our priority list of demands from both Central as well as State Governments," Utagi added.

Online Registration -Instructions

BEFORE FILLING UP THE ONLINE APPLICATION

1.Ensure that you possess the prescribed minimum educational qualification for regular courses (and experience required for the MBA (PT) and Health Care Administration Programme) you are applying. Those awaiting results of the qualifying final examination can also apply.

2.Fill in all the fields. Give complete details in all columns.

3.Check and fill in your name, father’s name, date of birth, address with state and pin code and all the other required particulars correctly.

4.Candidates applying under reserved categories (OBC/SC/ST/PH/CW) should send self-attested photocopies of the Category/Caste certificate from competent authority in the prescribed format, along with the printed and signed acknowledgement form with the thumb impression and colour photograph to FMS.

DATES TO REMEMBER

All candidates will have to register through the online registration system
There will be no other mode of registration.
Opening date: 06th September 2010
Closing date: 15th October 2010
The printed acknowledgement form along with enclosures should be dispatched on or before 15th October 2010.

PAYMENT OF FEE

All applicants other than those belonging to SC/ST are required to pay Rs.750/- (Rs. 200/- for SC/ST category) for each programme
Payment of the entrance examination fee can be made in any of the following modes:
1.Payment through online Internet Payment Gateway of Axis Bank
2.Payment through Demand Draft made in favour of “Registrar, University of Delhi” payable at Delhi

PRINTING THE FILLED APPLICATION

1.After saving the details of your application, you must print your application acknowledgement by clicking on the ‘Print Application’ button. (Adobe reader 7.0 or higher should be available in your computer)

2. Please ensure that pop-up blockers, if any are removed from your system before clicking on this button. Otherwise the print application may get blocked.

3. Please retain an additional copy of the printed application acknowledgement form for your reference.

4. Please note down the registration number of your application, and the same is to be quoted in all your further correspondence with regard to your online registration for FMS entrance examination.

5. If for some reason you would like to print your application acknowledgement again, please use the ‘Status/Print Application’ button on the i-Register home page to login. You will be prompted to key in your Registration number and date of birth. On verifying the same, you will be permitted to view the status of your application and print your application acknowledgement form again.

AFTER PRINTING THE APPLICATION ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORM

1.On the printed application acknowledgement form, paste your recent passport size photograph in the space provided(Not more than one month old) with clear front view in normal attire without cap and sunglasses.

2.Signatures and Thumb impression to be affixed at the spaces provided.

3.Fill up the particulars of your DD in the requisite columns. The Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of Registrar, University of Delhi, payable at Delhi

4.If you have made your payment online please send the acknowledgement form along with the enclosures to the ”Administrative Officer, Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, Delhi-110007” on before 15th October 2010

5.Note down your registration number. This is to be mentioned in all your future correspondence.

ENCLOSURES WITH APPLICATION ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORM

1.DD (Original)(if not paid online).

2.Photo copy of latest Category/Caste certificate (if applicable) duly signed by competent Authority.

3.Additional colour photo (one pasted and another to be enclosed).

MAILING INSTRUCTIONS

1.The printout of the online application acknowledgement form and enclosures should be sent in an envelope size 10/11 cms x 24/25 cms to reach The ”Administrative Officer, Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, Delhi-110007”

2.The envelope to be superscribed with your online registration number and the course applied for.

3.FMS is not responsible for non delivery and postal delays.

INVALID APPLICATIONS

The following will disqualify your application.

1.Applications without proper signatures.

2.Applications without left thumb impression.

3.Applications without photograph.

4.Applications without the requisite examination fees.

5.Applications without self-attested copies of caste/category certificates from candidates applying under these categories.
